Who this service is for

Many Belarusian partners are in Belarus, while some couples meet in neighbouring countries or already live in Canada. The documents IRCC asks for are the same wherever you meet.

Confirm your relationship category before anything else. We describe the full process in our spousal sponsorship in Canada material.

Sponsors with a partner in Belarus

Filing from abroad in the Family Class is typical. We plan each Belarusian record so your partner can obtain it locally.

Couples who meet in a third country

Visits outside Belarus still count as relationship evidence. We help you document them and explain why you met there.

Partners divorced in Belarus

For a Belarusian divorce, IRCC's instructions use the term “decree absolute”. In practice, that is the record proving the divorce is final, and we identify which one you hold.

What Belarusian Spousal Sponsorship Application Support Includes

Your agreement lists every task we accept. For a Belarusian partner, the work normally includes these steps.

01
Review eligibility and choose the application route

Review both partners’ circumstances, previous sponsorships and immigration history. Compare inland and outland options, including how travel plans affect the choice.

02
Organize your relationship evidence

Build a clear relationship timeline using records of your life together. Identify missing periods and explain circumstances the documents do not show.

03
Prepare forms and supporting documents

Prepare forms such as IMM 1344 and IMM 5532. Use our spousal sponsorship document checklist to organize your records. Check civil records, translations and country-specific document requirements.

04
Check dates and details across the file

Compare relationship dates with address histories, travel records and supporting documents. Resolve differences before they become conflicting answers in your application.

05
Prepare the application for submission

Review the completed application with you and check the required signatures and uploads. You personally complete the declarations IRCC requires you to sign.

06
Handle agreed follow-up with IRCC

Understand document requests and prepare responses within their deadlines. Interview preparation or additional applications can be discussed when relevant to your file.

Document issues we check before submission

Belarusian records are often gathered at a distance, so we look for gaps before submission.

Our spousal sponsorship document checklist holds the documents every file needs.

A labour book copied only in part

IRCC wants every page. We compare the scan with the book before it is uploaded.

A divorce record that is not final

An interim court paper does not show the marriage ended. We ask for the final record IRCC's instructions point to.

Visits that are hard to show

When couples meet outside Belarus, tickets, stamps and bookings carry more weight. We gather them into one timeline.

Belarusian Documents at a Glance

These rows follow IRCC's current Belarus instructions. Your generated application package settles the final list, so check it before ordering documents.

Belarusian Spousal Sponsorship Fees and Processing Times

Your partner's nationality does not change IRCC's fees. The $1,260 in IRCC fees covers a spouse without dependent children, and IRCC charges $85 for biometrics if they apply. We set out each charge in our spouse sponsorship fees guide.

Collecting records from Belarus without travelling there needs lead time, so we start early. Professional fees are shown on our fees page.

Clear fees before you retain us

A consultation comes first, and hiring us is a separate decision. The written agreement then sets the fee and lists the Belarusian records covered.

Government fees, the medical exam, translations and charges for Belarusian certificates are extra. Professional prices are available before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Canadians need a visa to go to Belarus?

For stays of up to 30 days, no tourist visa is needed, according to Global Affairs Canada. The same advice, however, tells Canadians to avoid all travel to Belarus. It cites arbitrary enforcement of local laws and the war in Ukraine. Many couples meet in a third country instead and document those visits.

Is it safe to visit Belarus now?

Global Affairs Canada currently advises Canadians to avoid all travel to Belarus. For a sponsorship, that can limit visits, which are part of relationship evidence. Meetings in a third country can still be documented with tickets, stamps and bookings. If the advisory kept you from visiting, explain that in your relationship description.

What are the documents needed for a police clearance certificate?

It depends on the country issuing it. For Belarus, IRCC notes that certificates are available only to people who lived there six months or more. In Belarus, apply through the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs office for your oblast. Abroad, apply through the nearest Belarusian diplomatic mission, and follow that office's document list.

Who is eligible for spouse sponsorship in Canada?

You must be at least 18 and a Canadian citizen, a registered Indian, or a permanent resident living in Canada. An undertaking commits you to supporting your partner. You must not be barred, for example by social assistance other than for disability. Your partner must be in a genuine relationship with you and admissible. A Belarusian partner also needs a police certificate, issued only after six months living in Belarus.

How long can you remarry after divorce in Canada?

A Canadian divorce generally takes effect on the 31st day after the judgment, and you can remarry once it does. The court can then issue a certificate of divorce. For sponsorship, IRCC needs proof any earlier marriage ended. A divorce in Belarus needs its final record, which IRCC calls the decree absolute.
