Who this service is for

Your partner may live in Almaty, Astana or elsewhere, or already be in Canada with you. IRCC's Kazakhstan items follow the passport and records in either case.

Begin with your relationship category. The rest of the program is laid out on our spousal sponsorship in Canada page.

Sponsors with a partner in Kazakhstan

Outland filing in the Family Class is usual. We start with the police certificate and labour book, which take the longest to prepare.

Couples together in Canada

Compare inland and outland sponsorship before filing. Your partner's current status makes a real difference.

Anyone divorced in Kazakhstan

A divorce in Kazakhstan calls for what IRCC terms the “decree absolute”, the record showing it became final. We confirm which document fits.

What Kazakhstani Spousal Sponsorship Application Support Includes

We set out our scope in writing before any work starts. A Kazakhstani file typically covers these steps.

01
Review eligibility and choose the application route

Review both partners’ circumstances, previous sponsorships and immigration history. Compare inland and outland options, including how travel plans affect the choice.

02
Organize your relationship evidence

Build a clear relationship timeline using records of your life together. Identify missing periods and explain circumstances the documents do not show.

03
Prepare forms and supporting documents

Prepare forms such as IMM 1344 and IMM 5532. Use our spousal sponsorship document checklist to organize your records. Check civil records, translations and country-specific document requirements.

04
Check dates and details across the file

Compare relationship dates with address histories, travel records and supporting documents. Resolve differences before they become conflicting answers in your application.

05
Prepare the application for submission

Review the completed application with you and check the required signatures and uploads. You personally complete the declarations IRCC requires you to sign.

06
Handle agreed follow-up with IRCC

Understand document requests and prepare responses within their deadlines. Interview preparation or additional applications can be discussed when relevant to your file.

Document issues we check before submission

IRCC's Kazakhstan list cares about format as much as content. We check how each record was issued and copied.

The general requirements for all files are in our spousal sponsorship document checklist.

A virtual police certificate

IRCC says printouts of online results and virtual certificates are not acceptable. The paper original is what counts.

A certificate missing an earlier name

Every name used in Kazakhstan has to appear on the certificate. We compare it with passports and civil records.

Partial labour-book copies

IRCC wants all pages, not only the recent entries. We scan the whole book, including blank pages.

Your first meeting carries no obligation. If you proceed, you receive a written agreement naming the fee and the Kazakhstani records covered.

IRCC fees, the medical exam, translations and certificate charges in Kazakhstan are paid separately. Professional prices are shown before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I obtain a police clearance certificate in Kazakhstan?

In Kazakhstan, apply online through the e-Government portal or in person at a Public Service Centre. A representative with power of attorney can apply for you. From abroad, apply at a Kazakhstani embassy or consulate. IRCC accepts only the paper original, which must list every name you used in Kazakhstan.

Do Canadians need a visa to go to Kazakhstan?

According to the travel advice from Global Affairs Canada, Canadians need no tourist visa for stays of up to 30 days. The total is capped at 90 days in any 180-day period. Check the advice again before booking. For your sponsorship, visit dates must match what you report on IMM 5532 and your partner's IMM 5562.

How much income do I need to sponsor my wife?

In most cases, none. IRCC has no income requirement for sponsoring a spouse or partner, except when their dependent child has children of their own. Quebec applies its own rules. You still sign a three-year undertaking to support your partner. The labour book IRCC asks for shows work history; it is not an income test.

Can PR be rejected after medical?

It can, but not on cost grounds. Sponsored spouses and partners are exempt from the excessive demand rule on health and social services. A partner can still be found inadmissible if a condition endangers public health or safety. IRCC, not the panel physician, makes that decision and writes to you if there is a concern.

What are the medical requirements for an IRCC medical exam?

After you submit, IRCC sends medical exam instructions, and the exam must be done within 30 days. Only an IRCC panel physician can do it. Bring a passport or other approved ID, glasses if you wear them, and reports on existing conditions. The panel physician may also need four recent photos.
