Who this service is for

Your partner may be in Pakistan, or you may already live together in Canada. Either way, IRCC reads Pakistani civil records under its own country instructions.

Begin by confirming the relationship category you fall under. The broader rules are in our guide to spousal sponsorship in Canada.

Sponsors with a partner in Pakistan

The outland Family Class route is the usual fit. We gather the Nikah Nama, NADRA records and police certificate, then compare them with your forms.

Couples together in Canada

Look at inland and outland sponsorship side by side first. Status, travel plans and work permits can point to different routes.

Anyone with a prior marriage in Pakistan

IRCC asks for a Talaq certificate from the union council, or a Khula decree from the Family Court. We confirm which records apply to your divorce.

What Pakistani Spousal Sponsorship Application Support Includes

The scope of our work is set in writing. For a partner from Pakistan, it normally includes these steps.

01
Review eligibility and choose the application route

Review both partners’ circumstances, previous sponsorships and immigration history. Compare inland and outland options, including how travel plans affect the choice.

02
Organize your relationship evidence

Build a clear relationship timeline using records of your life together. Identify missing periods and explain circumstances the documents do not show.

03
Prepare forms and supporting documents

Prepare forms such as IMM 1344 and IMM 5532. Use our spousal sponsorship document checklist to organize your records. Check civil records, translations and country-specific document requirements.

04
Check dates and details across the file

Compare relationship dates with address histories, travel records and supporting documents. Resolve differences before they become conflicting answers in your application.

05
Prepare the application for submission

Review the completed application with you and check the required signatures and uploads. You personally complete the declarations IRCC requires you to sign.

06
Handle agreed follow-up with IRCC

Understand document requests and prepare responses within their deadlines. Interview preparation or additional applications can be discussed when relevant to your file.

Document issues we check before submission

IRCC's Pakistan rules on registration and endorsement go beyond simply having each document. We check those rules one record at a time.

Our spousal sponsorship document checklist covers the documents every sponsorship needs.

A Nikah Nama without the registry seal

IRCC treats the seal as proof the marriage was registered with the union council. We check it is visible and legible on the scan.

A NADRA certificate used on its own

IRCC says the NADRA marriage or divorce certificate is not enough by itself. We pair it with the union council records it depends on.

Unlabelled wedding photos

Photos need names, dates and the occasion written in English or French. We label them before they go into the file.

Pakistani Documents at a Glance

These rows follow IRCC's current Pakistan instructions for a sponsored partner. Your personalized application package sets the final list, so generate it before collecting anything.

Pakistani Spousal Sponsorship Fees and Processing Times

IRCC's fees are the same for every country of origin. A spouse without dependent children costs $1,260 in government fees. Biometrics add $85 per person where required, as our spouse sponsorship fees guide explains.

IRCC government fees for sponsoring a partner from Pakistan, 2026 (CAD)
Government feeAmount (CAD)What it covers
Sponsorship and processing fees$660Covers the sponsorship application and your partner's permanent residence processing

Spouse-only total with biometrics$1,345Sponsorship, processing, RPRF and one biometrics fee

Estimates differ for inland, outland and Quebec files, and they change during the year. Rely on the processing-times tool on the IRCC site rather than a figure you read months ago.

IRCC warns that non-compliant Pakistani marriage or divorce certificates may cause delay or refusal. The standard it names is the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961. Professional fees appear on our fees page.

A consultation comes before any commitment. When you retain us, the written agreement sets the fee and lists the Pakistani records we handle.

Government fees, medical exams, translations and Pakistani certificate charges sit outside our fee. You can see professional prices before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to get Pakistan police clearance certificate in Canada?

From Canada, apply through the nearest Pakistani embassy or consulate. The IRCC page for Pakistan lists what to bring. That means the application form, certified passport copies showing your legal stay, a certified identity card copy, three photos and the fee. A relative in Pakistan can apply for you with an affidavit on judicial stamp paper and an authority letter. The Canadian High Commission in Islamabad cannot obtain it for you.

How to get a Pakistani police clearance certificate?

Inside Pakistan, the process depends on the province. In Punjab, you can apply at any Police Khidmat Markaz, even one outside the district you need covered. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa processes applications in person, sometimes at the Senior Superintendent of Police office. The certificate is then couriered to you or collected from the office where you applied.

Is there a 5-year ban on spousal sponsorship in Canada?

Yes, for sponsors who were themselves sponsored as a spouse or partner. You cannot sponsor a new partner until five years after you became a permanent resident. A separate three-year wait applies after sponsoring a previous partner. If you divorced in Pakistan while living in Canada, IRCC also wants proof of a real connection to Pakistan then.

What documents are used as proof of marriage for immigration purposes?

For a Muslim marriage in Pakistan, IRCC asks for the Nikah Nama with the registry seal showing union council registration. A NADRA certificate can go in too, but not on its own. Non-Muslim couples submit the certificate from the government office that registers marriages. Affidavits are not accepted. Add labelled wedding photos.

What can cause a spousal sponsorship refusal?

Refusal can follow when the sponsor fails the eligibility rules or the partner is inadmissible. It can also follow when the relationship fails the genuineness test. That test asks whether the marriage is genuine and not mainly for immigration. For Pakistani files, IRCC also warns that certificates not complying with the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961 may cause delay or refusal.
