Who this service is for

Your partner may be in Tashkent or another city, working abroad, or already in Canada with you. IRCC applies its Uzbekistan instructions wherever your partner lives.

Clarify your relationship category to begin. The general framework is explained in our spousal sponsorship in Canada article.

Sponsors with a partner in Uzbekistan

Couples usually file outland in the Family Class here. The police certificate and labour book come first, since both need time.

Couples together in Canada

Before filing, weigh inland and outland sponsorship with us. The right choice often follows from your partner's status.

Anyone divorced in Uzbekistan

IRCC's Uzbekistan instructions ask for the “decree absolute” of a divorce there. We work out which Uzbek record shows it became final.

What Uzbek Spousal Sponsorship Application Support Includes

We record the scope of our work in writing. An Uzbek file generally runs through these steps.

01
Review eligibility and choose the application route

Review both partners’ circumstances, previous sponsorships and immigration history. Compare inland and outland options, including how travel plans affect the choice.

02
Organize your relationship evidence

Build a clear relationship timeline using records of your life together. Identify missing periods and explain circumstances the documents do not show.

03
Prepare forms and supporting documents

Prepare forms such as IMM 1344 and IMM 5532. Use our spousal sponsorship document checklist to organize your records. Check civil records, translations and country-specific document requirements.

04
Check dates and details across the file

Compare relationship dates with address histories, travel records and supporting documents. Resolve differences before they become conflicting answers in your application.

05
Prepare the application for submission

Review the completed application with you and check the required signatures and uploads. You personally complete the declarations IRCC requires you to sign.

06
Handle agreed follow-up with IRCC

Understand document requests and prepare responses within their deadlines. Interview preparation or additional applications can be discussed when relevant to your file.

Document issues we check before submission

IRCC's Uzbekistan list turns on page counts and certificate formats. We check both closely before submission.

Every file's shared documents appear on our spousal sponsorship document checklist.

An electronic police certificate

IRCC says printouts of online results and electronic certificates are not acceptable. Only the collected paper original works.

A certificate without earlier names

The certificate has to list every name used in Uzbekistan. Passports and civil records are our reference for that check.

Labour-book pages missing

IRCC asks for every page. We compare page numbers in the scan with the book itself.

Uzbek Documents at a Glance

These rows follow IRCC's current Uzbekistan instructions. The package you generate has the final word, so check it before collecting documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Uzbek citizens get a visa to visit Canada?

Yes. Uzbekistan is on IRCC's visa-required list, so a visitor visa is needed and is applied for online. A sponsorship in progress does not bar the application. The officer weighs whether your partner will leave at the end of the visit. A visitor visa does not allow your partner to work in Canada.

Do Canadians need a visa to go to Uzbekistan?

Not for tourist stays of up to 30 days, according to Global Affairs Canada travel advice. The advice is to take normal precautions, but to avoid all travel within 5 km of the Afghan border. Recheck before each trip. Visits are relationship evidence, and their dates belong on IMM 5532.

Can I sponsor my wife to come to Canada?

Yes, if you are an eligible sponsor and the marriage is legally registered and genuine. Your wife applies for permanent residence in the Family Class from abroad, or inland if she lives with you here. For a wife from Uzbekistan, add IMM 5562, labour-book pages and a paper police certificate.

What happens after a medical exam is passed by IRCC?

The panel physician sends the results to IRCC, which makes the decision and writes only if there is a problem. Medical results stay valid for 12 months. If your partner does not arrive as a permanent resident within that time, another exam may be needed. Security and background checks continue in parallel.

How difficult is spousal sponsorship in Canada?

The rules are clear: an eligible sponsor, a genuine relationship and an admissible partner. Most sponsorships have no income test. The hard part is usually the paperwork. For an Uzbek partner, that means every labour-book page and IMM 5546 where service applies. It also means a paper police certificate and the final record of any divorce.
