Post Graduation Work Permit Consultant North York
Post Graduation Work Permit Consultant North York support helps you identify the rules applying to your credential and study history.
Studying at York University’s Keele campus or Seneca Newnham does not, by itself, establish PGWP eligibility.
Your credential and application dates determine which language and field-of-study rules apply.
Mirzoyan Immigration Services provides application preparation through a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).
You obtain the required school documents; the licensed consultant checks them against current requirements.
✓Check the requirements for your exact credential and program

Who is this service for
Your completion notice may arrive while a language test, transcript or passport renewal is still outstanding.
Bring those records together before deciding when to file.
You can start with the documents you have. A consultation can identify which missing records affect your next step.
Recent graduates approaching the filing window
A completion email can arrive before convocation.
The 180-day application window runs from confirmation that your studies are complete.
Bring the earliest completion notice and your transcript so the relevant dates can be assessed.
Graduates with expiring or expired study permits
The PGWP filing window does not extend your permission to remain in Canada.
Your current status and any restoration deadline need separate attention.
An expired study permit also changes whether work is permitted while IRCC considers the application.
Graduates unsure which current rules apply
A bachelor’s degree and a college graduate certificate can have different language and field requirements.
Study-permit and PGWP application dates also matter.
Provide your exact credential, program and study history rather than relying on the campus name.
What PGWP Application Support Includes
01
01 Identify the applicable PGWP rules
Your review starts with the institution, credential and study history behind the application. Study-permit application dates help establish which PGWP requirements apply. Transfers, leave and part-time terms are examined against the applicable rules. A York or Seneca credential is checked individually rather than treated as a campus-wide assurance. Potential eligibility concerns are identified before application preparation begins.
02
02 Check the application window and status route
The PGWP filing deadline is assessed separately from your permission to stay in Canada. Completion confirmation is compared with study-permit validity and any later status records. An expired permit requires an assessment of whether student-status restoration remains available. The consultant also explains any period when you must stop working. IRCC’s application instructions govern the available route and its conditions.
03
03 Map the required evidence
Each requirement is matched with evidence such as transcripts, completion confirmation, passport details, language results and program information. For York University graduates, the review distinguishes confirmed graduation from a letter describing potential eligibility to graduate. Seneca graduates provide the exact program and credential information alongside their completion records. You obtain missing documents from the issuing institution. Inconsistent dates or descriptions need clarification before the application is assembled.
04
04 Prepare the agreed application
The preparation and filing tasks are recorded in your written service agreement. Forms are completed using your confirmed information and supporting documents. You check the draft for factual accuracy before filing. Outstanding questions are resolved within the agreed preparation work. Additional applications or services require a separately agreed scope.
05
05 Explain work authorization while IRCC decides
Work authorization is checked against all of IRCC’s conditions for the period before a PGWP decision. Your study permit must have been valid when you applied, and your program must have been completed. During your studies, off-campus work eligibility and compliance with the permitted hours are also required. Filing a PGWP application alone does not create permission to work. Work must stop on the day IRCC notifies you that the application was refused.
06
06 Post submission support
Follow-up after filing is limited to the work stated in your service agreement. Where retained, the consultant reviews IRCC’s request and prepares the agreed response with its supporting records. You provide any requested documents and tell the consultant about changes affecting your file. Relevant response deadlines are explained for the requests covered by the agreement. Refusal advice, another permit or permanent residence work may need a separate agreement.

Meet in person, online or by phone. Based in Toronto, we serve clients across Canada and abroad in English, Russian and Armenian.
Document issues we check before submission
If the date in your completion email differs from the one on your transcript, keep both records.
The difference needs an explanation before it reaches an application form.
Completion dates that do not align
Mirzoyan Immigration Services compares York’s confirmation letter with the transcript before using either record to establish completion.
York distinguishes confirmed graduation from potential eligibility to graduate.
A letter describing expected graduation does not establish completed study.
Obtain clarification from the school when completion records disagree.
Status and passport records
Mirzoyan Immigration Services checks the passport expiry date before the requested PGWP duration is entered in the application.
A short passport validity can shorten the permit. Also check when a study permit becomes invalid.
For most graduates, completion can end its validity 90 days later, even when the printed expiry date is later.
Language and field-of-study evidence
IRCC’s online checklist can label language results as optional even when your program requires them.
It may omit a request for field-of-study proof altogether. Required CIP evidence belongs in the Client Information upload.
Confirm the test version, four skill scores and result date before filing.
Eligibility requirements at a glance
PGWP eligibility depends on your completed program and study history.
The checks below identify records to discuss with your consultant; they do not establish individual eligibility.
| Requirement | Records and rule | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| School and completed program | Identify the institution, credential and exact program you completed. | A DLI listing alone does not establish PGWP eligibility. Use completion evidence from the eligible institution and program. |
| Length and study history | Generally, complete at least eight months of eligible study, or 900 hours for Quebec programs. | Full-time study is required each semester, with a permitted final part-time semester. Leave, transfers and distance learning require specific checks. |
| Application and status dates | Submit within 180 days of confirmation that your studies are complete. | Within that 180-day period, you need a date on which your study permit was valid. Assess permission to remain in Canada separately. |
| Language level | Bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and other university programs require CLB 7 or NCLC 7 in all four skills. | Other college, polytechnic and non-university programs require CLB 5 or NCLC 5 in all four skills. Flight-school graduates are exempt. |
| Language-rule date | Language proof applies to PGWP applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, unless exempt. | An earlier study-permit application does not, by itself, exempt a current PGWP application from language proof. |
| Field of study | Where a non-degree program requires field proof, match its Classification of Instructional Programs code to an eligible six-digit listing. | Bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees are exempt. Other qualifying credentials are exempt if the study-permit application preceded November 1, 2024. |
| Field-rule history | Where required, the CIP code must be eligible when either the study-permit or PGWP application is submitted. | IRCC has frozen additions and removals for 2026. A later removal does not automatically invalidate an earlier qualifying application date. |
| Earlier PGWP and passport | Check your passport’s expiry and any PGWP issued to you previously. | Another credential does not provide a second PGWP. Passport expiry can limit the duration of an otherwise eligible permit. |
Language results must be less than two years old when the PGWP application is submitted.
IRCC accepts CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada results from in-person tests.
If your study permit expired without a change to visitor status, IRCC describes a student-restoration route within 90 days of expiry.
The PGWP deadline and other eligibility requirements still apply. You cannot work before approval on that route.
PGWP Government Fees and Processing Times
PGWP government charges are separate from professional fees.
The standard application total includes both the work permit fee and open work permit holder fee.
| Fee item | When it applies | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Work permit processing | Standard PGWP application | $155 |
| Open work permit holder | Additional fee for the open permit | $100 |
| Standard application total | Before biometrics, restoration or other applicable charges | $255 |
| Biometrics, per person | Only when new biometrics are required | $85 |
Additional costs may include restoration, a language test, a medical exam or translations, depending on your circumstances.
The applicable charges should be checked before payment.
Check IRCC’s processing-times tool for the application category and location that apply to your situation.
The published estimate changes and does not guarantee a decision date.
North York applicants follow the same federal rules as other applicants in the relevant category.
Whether you can work during processing depends on your status and study history, not the estimate.
Clear Fees Before You Retain Us
Your written agreement confirms the application work, professional fees and responsibilities before the file is prepared. Government fees and third-party costs are separate.
Discuss the scope for your circumstances, then review the published fee schedule before retaining Mirzoyan Immigration Services.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a work permit in Canada after graduation?
Eligible Canadian graduates can apply for a PGWP after completing a qualifying program and meeting IRCC’s study and evidence requirements.
Apply within 180 days of completion confirmation. A DLI’s name alone does not establish eligibility.
Your credential and application dates determine the language and field-of-study requirements.
Status and pending-work permission require separate checks.
How much does a PGWP cost?
Standard PGWP government fees total $255: $155 for work permit processing and $100 for the open work permit holder fee.
IRCC’s fee list also lists $85 per person for biometrics when required. Restoration and other case costs can add charges.
Professional fees are separate and confirmed in your written agreement.
How long does it take to get approved for the PGWP in 2026?
PGWP processing time varies by application category, application location and IRCC’s current workload.
Consult IRCC’s processing-times tool for the relevant estimate. It does not guarantee your decision date.
The processing estimate does not extend your 180-day filing window or establish permission to work.
Pending-work eligibility must be checked separately against your records.
Can I work while waiting for PGWP?
You can work full-time while awaiting a PGWP decision only if every IRCC pending-work condition is met.
At filing, your study permit was valid and your program was complete.
During studies, you were eligible for off-campus work and kept any hours worked within the authorized limit.
Otherwise, wait for your work permit. Work must end when IRCC’s refusal notification arrives.
Can I extend my PGWP in 2026?
A PGWP can be extended when passport expiry shortened the permit below the full duration you were eligible to receive.
Obtain a new passport and use IRCC’s paper extension route. The initial permit should note the passport limitation.
IRCC does not require language proof for that passport-related extension.
Completing another program does not create a second PGWP entitlement.
