Work and Study Permit Replacement Consultant Toronto

Our Work and Study Permit Replacement Consultant Toronto service helps residents replace a valid paper permit that is lost, stolen or damaged. Mirzoyan Immigration Services confirms the document issue and checks identity and status records. We keep replacement separate from extension, restoration or travel-document questions and confirm the agreed work in writing.

✓ Confirm whether replacement is the correct document service

✓ Organize identity, permit and loss records

✓ Avoid treating replacement as an extension of status

Who is this service for

This service is for people whose existing work or study permit document is unavailable or unusable while its status details need to be documented.

Lost or stolen permit holders

Your paper work or study permit is missing, and you need the replacement request supported by available copies, identity records and an account of the loss.

People with damaged documents

The permit is torn, illegible or otherwise unusable, and you need to know what to submit with the damaged document and replacement application.

People unsure whether status also needs action

The permit may be expired or close to expiry, so replacement must be separated from any extension, restoration or new permit application.

What Work and Study Permit Replacement Application Support Includes

Permit replacement work confirms the document problem without implying that a replacement changes the underlying authorization.

Document issues we check before submission

A replacement request should identify the original permit and explain why it is unavailable. See the national permit replacement page.

No copy of the missing permit

If no copy is available, IRCC account records, prior correspondence and other identifiers may help establish the document details needed for the request.

Loss and theft records that conflict

The application explanation, police report and dates should describe the same event. Differences need clarification before the request is filed.

Replacement confused with status renewal

A replacement document reproduces evidence of an existing record. It does not extend an expiry date, restore lost status or create new work or study authorization.

Eligibility requirements at a glance

This application replaces a valid temporary resident document that was lost, stolen or destroyed. It does not extend status, change permit conditions, restore status or replace an expired permit.

Basic Work and Study Permit Replacement requirements
RequirementBasic requirement
Replaceable documentFor this page, the document is a valid work permit or study permit. Guide 5545 also addresses specified other temporary resident documents and Verification of Status requests.
Document remains validIRCC can issue a replacement only for a temporary resident document that has not expired. An expired document requires assessment of the person's status and the appropriate separate application.
Loss, theft or destructionThe applicant identifies what happened to the original. For a lost or stolen valid document, provide the police report number or briefly explain why no report number is available, as instructed in IMM 5009.
Identity and document detailsThe application needs enough identity, immigration-history and document information for IRCC to locate the record, together with the supporting copies required by the current form and checklist.
Separate status applicationsReplacement does not extend the permit's expiry date or provide new status. An extension, change of conditions or restoration request uses a different application and fee.

Work and Study Permit Replacement Fees and Processing Times

These are government charges in Canadian dollars. Professional fees and other application costs are separate.

Replace an immigration document$30 CAD per documentApplies to replacement of an eligible valid work or study permit.

This is a document-replacement fee. It is not a work-permit or study-permit extension fee and does not restore or extend temporary resident status. Guide 5545 lists limited fee exemptions for specified assistance recipients.

Processing times

Use IRCC's current processing-time tool and select Verification of Status or replacement of an immigration document if that option is available. A live estimate can change and does not extend the underlying permit while the request is processed.

Frequently asked questions

What if I lost my immigration papers?

If a current, valid Canadian work permit, study permit or visitor record is lost, stolen or destroyed, request a replacement with form IMM 5009. For a lost or stolen document, IRCC asks for a police report number or an explanation if none was filed. The fee is $30. Review our replacement guide.

How long does it take for IRCC to process a study permit?

Study permit processing depends on where and how you apply. Use IRCC’s live processing-times tool for the applicable study-permit category because estimates change and do not guarantee a decision date. Replacing a lost but still-valid permit is a separate $30 application. Our replacement guide explains that narrower process.

How to change a study permit in Canada?

Use the route that matches the change. An IRCC error on a valid study permit uses the amendment process. A change to your conditions or more time to study generally requires a study permit application. Replacing a lost or damaged valid permit only reissues the document. Start with IRCC Guide 5218.

Can I extend my work permit before it expires?

Yes, if you are eligible. IRCC says to apply at least 30 calendar days before the current work permit expires. An extension continues or changes authorization; a replacement only reissues proof of a current, valid permit. Review IRCC’s work permit extension process before choosing the application route.

How much does a Canadian study permit cost?

IRCC charges $150 for a study permit, including an extension. Replacing a current, valid lost, stolen or damaged study permit costs $30. These are government fees. Professional fees, biometrics when required, translations and other third-party expenses are separate. Confirm the current amounts in IRCC’s fee list before paying.
