✓ Prepare the agreed profile or invited application work

Who is this service for

FSW is generally relevant to skilled workers relying on qualifying work experience, including experience gained outside Canada.

Skilled workers outside Canada

You have skilled work experience, language results and education credentials. You want to know whether the Federal Skilled Worker Program can place you in Express Entry.

Candidates comparing Express Entry routes

You may appear eligible under FSW and another program. Consider the program rules, profile answers and supporting evidence together before submission.

Invited FSW candidates

You received an invitation and need to reconcile work history, education, funds, civil records and profile declarations before filing.

What Federal Skilled Worker Application Support Includes

FSW support separates entry to the program from ranking in the Express Entry pool and proof after invitation.

01
Assess FSW eligibility

Review skilled work, language, education, selection factors and admissibility information to identify whether the Federal Skilled Worker Program fits the profile.

02
Review NOC alignment

Compare your actual duties with the selected National Occupational Classification (NOC) description and supporting employer records. A job title alone is insufficient.

03
Confirm education evidence

Check Canadian credentials or the educational credential assessment used for foreign education, including names, credential details and validity information.

04
Prepare or review the profile

Prepare the initial Express Entry profile included in retained FSW application services. Cross-check work, education, language, family and immigration history against your records.

05
Prepare the invited application

After an invitation, organize proof for the points and eligibility claimed, with profile answers reconciled against the permanent residence forms.

06
Post-submission support

Review document requests or fairness concerns and prepare responses covered by the service agreement after the permanent residence application is filed.

Choose the support you need

Your stage determines whether the work starts with eligibility, the Express Entry profile or an invitation to apply.

FSW and Express Entry consultation

Review program fit, selection factors, CRS context and document concerns before creating a profile or responding to an invitation. Detailed calculations depend on the information supplied.

Profile or application representation

Initial Express Entry profile preparation is included when you retain Mirzoyan Immigration Services for FSW application support. The agreement specifies invited-application preparation and any follow-up. Separate offers cover standalone profile preparation and reviews of profiles or applications you prepare yourself.

Document issues we check before submission

FSW files rely on proof of duties, education, language and the facts entered in Express Entry. See the national FSW service page.

Employer letters that list only a title

A job title alone does not show what work was performed. Duties, dates, hours and compensation should align with the experience claimed in the profile.

Education records that do not match

Names, credential wording and assessment details should be consistent across diplomas, transcripts, educational assessments and the Express Entry profile.

Profile and application differences

Reconcile work dates, family details, travel and immigration history before the invited application is filed. Report material changes accurately.

Eligibility requirements at a glance

Federal Skilled Worker eligibility is a program threshold before Express Entry ranking. Meeting the minimum requirements and the 67-point selection threshold does not itself guarantee an invitation to apply.

Basic Federal Skilled Worker requirements
RequirementBasic requirement
Skilled work experienceYou generally need a continuous period of qualifying paid work in the last 10 years. This means one full-time year, or equivalent part-time work, totalling at least 1,560 hours. Count no more than 30 hours weekly. That qualifying period must be in your primary NOC, classified in TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3. The duties must match its lead statement and most main duties.
Official languageAn approved language test must show at least CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French for your first official language. The minimum applies separately to speaking, listening, reading and writing.
EducationYou need a completed Canadian secondary or post-secondary credential. Alternatively, a completed foreign credential must have an Educational Credential Assessment for immigration purposes.
FSW selection scoreThe applicant must score at least 67 out of 100 on the Federal Skilled Worker selection factors. This score is separate from the Comprehensive Ranking System score used in the Express Entry pool.
Settlement fundsProof of sufficient settlement funds is generally required. IRCC provides an exception where the applicant is legally able to work in Canada and has a valid job offer.
Admissibility and destinationThe applicant must be admissible to Canada and plan to live outside Quebec. Quebec selects its own skilled workers.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to process an application for the Federal Skilled Worker Program?

Federal Skilled Worker processing time changes with IRCC’s inventory and the application. Check the live processing-time tool for the current Express Entry estimate. Processing starts when IRCC receives a complete permanent-residence application after an invitation. Creating a profile does not start application processing. Completeness, biometrics, medical, criminality and security checks can make an individual file take longer than the estimate.

Who is eligible for federal skilled worker?

Federal Skilled Worker applicants must meet minimum requirements for skilled work, language and education. They must also score at least 67 out of 100 on the program’s selection factors. You generally need settlement funds, must be admissible and must plan to live outside Quebec. The 67-point assessment is separate from the CRS score used to rank Express Entry profiles.

How much bank balance is required for Canada immigration?

Federal Skilled Worker settlement funds depend on family size; check IRCC’s current table because amounts change annually. Count yourself, your spouse or partner, and both partners’ dependent children, including Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Count those family members even when they are not accompanying you. Required funds cannot be borrowed. The FSW exemption requires both authorization to work in Canada and a valid job offer.

How to apply for the federal Skilled Worker program?

First confirm that you meet Federal Skilled Worker requirements and obtain the required language test. If your education is foreign, obtain an educational credential assessment; an eligible completed Canadian credential does not need one. Then create an Express Entry profile. Entering the pool does not guarantee an invitation. If invited, submit the complete permanent-residence application by the stated deadline and keep proof-of-funds information current.

How much is the cost for PR?

A Federal Skilled Worker principal applicant currently pays $1,590 CAD in government fees. The amount includes the $600 right of permanent residence fee. An accompanying spouse or partner also pays $1,590, and each dependent child costs $270. Biometrics are $85 per person when required. Settlement funds, medical examinations, police records and professional services are separate.
