Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a representative for Canadian citizenship?

An appointed representative can advise you and deal with IRCC within their authorization. Paid representatives must be authorized to practise.

Do I need to use an immigration representative for my citizenship application?

No. You can apply yourself. Hire a consultant when you want help preparing the application or reviewing records and correspondence.

Will my case be processed more quickly if I hire a representative?

No. Hiring a representative does not provide faster processing or special attention. IRCC decides the outcome.

What services will the representative provide and what are the fees for these services?

Your agreement defines the preparation and follow-up included. View our professional fees; government fees and other case costs are separate.

What should I do if IRCC returns my application, saying my representative is not authorized?

Check the return letter and the representative’s status. If IRCC could not verify authorization, follow its instructions to provide proof. We can review the next steps with you.
